OC 8th grader Sydney Guzinski on the Nebraska barn quilt: "We filled our barn quilt with a big Nebraska 'N' and corn along with a checkered pattern. Much, if not all, of our community relies on agriculture."

According to OC 8th grader Carter Bousquet, "The patriotism of the barn quilt symbolizes the strength of our community. Like with the flood and how we all worked together with clean up and how some donated to help those affected. It shows our unity and strength."

OC 8th grader Laryn Johnson's thoughts on her group's Swedish themed barn quilt: "It can tell a story because our community is growing. That can be displayed through how our piece seems to be growing from the center, which to me represents our Swedish roots."

Agriculture was the theme for OC 8th grader Chaney Nelson's barn quilt. She stated: "The corn represents the more modern part of our community, but we also added a wagon wheel to show how our town has been built up from the ground and started a long time ago."

OC 8th grader Johnna Peterson discussed her group's barn quilt: "To me a bright flower represents growth and strength in our community. The flood has overcome the flowers. The story is that when something overcomes you, you can succeed."
