Our 7th grade artists do! Last week, they got scrappy and creative exploring printmaking by crafting their very own collagraph plates. Their mission was to capture the fluid, organic shapes of plants, resulting in amazing textured prints! This project taught them about positive/negative space and how materials influence texture.

The Oakland-Craig art program recently enjoyed an enriching visit to the Swedish Heritage Center, where students had the opportunity to tour the facility and engage directly with its art collection.
A special feature of the visit was a presentation by artist and former Oakland-Craig art teacher, Marilyn Tenney. Tenney presented her Swedish inspired sculpture, "Dala Doe," which is part of the broader J. Doe public art project. Inspired by similar public art projects in other cities that used animals, this project used fiberglass human figures as canvases for local artists to decorate.
